5.2 Use of External Service Providers and Cost Reimbursement Rules
In plain languageIf you want an independent repair shop to do warranty work, get our written approval first — otherwise we cannot reimburse the invoice.
Approval requirement: Booda Bike will only pay or reimburse an invoice issued by an independent third-party bicycle repair shop chosen by the customer if Booda Bike customer service has approved, in writing (by email) and on a case-by-case basis, the reported defect and the repair before work begins, and has expressly authorized the repair up to a specified amount.
Lack of prior approval: If the customer has a repair carried out by a third-party service provider without Booda Bike’s prior written approval, Booda Bike is released from any obligation to reimburse the repair costs.
Submission of a quote: The customer must send Booda Bike a detailed quote from the third-party service provider before repair work begins.
Right to propose an alternative: If the quote, hourly rate, or estimated total cost provided by the third-party service is disproportionately high relative to the nature of the repair, Booda Bike reserves the right to refuse approval and propose an alternative solution. This may include, but is not limited to, designating another nearby service provider or arranging for the bicycle to be collected by its own courier and repaired at Booda Bike’s own workshop.
If your bike has a defect, we can arrange the repair in several ways: we send you or your workshop the replacement part, we approve a repair at an independent workshop near you, or we collect the bike and repair it in our own workshop. The binding rules are in clause 5.2 of the shop terms.
First, report the defect to us as described in What does warranty cover?.
Replacement parts
Section titled “Replacement parts”- Direct shipping: if a replacement part is needed, we supply it and send it to you or to the workshop you choose.
- Buying from another webshop (rare): occasionally, to solve the problem faster or at lower cost, we may ask you to buy a specific part from a webshop we name. We always agree this with you in advance, and we reimburse all related costs.
Repairs at an independent workshop
Section titled “Repairs at an independent workshop”If you would like a bicycle workshop of your choice to do the repair, please follow these steps.
- Get a written quote. Before any work starts, ask the workshop for a detailed written quote for labor and parts, and send it to us by email.
- Wait for our approval. We review the quote and the reported defect.
- If we approve it: we confirm in writing, by email, the repair and the amount we approve. The workshop can then start.
- If the quote is disproportionately high: we may decline it and suggest an alternative, for example another workshop nearby, or collecting the bike by courier and repairing it in our own workshop.
- Technical support. We can give the workshop the technical instructions and manuals for the repair, and support the mechanic by phone or email during the work.
- Payment. Once we receive the final itemized invoice for the approved and completed repair, we either pay the workshop directly or reimburse you, up to the approved amount.
Can I have a warranty repair done at my local bike shop?
Yes, if we approve it in writing before the work starts. Send us a detailed written quote from the workshop first. We reimburse only repairs we approved in advance, up to the approved amount; a repair done without our prior written approval is not reimbursed.
