Who handles your data
Last updated: 7 October 2026
The controller is the company named in the Imprint above; it runs Booda Bike and this Help Center. Questions about your data: write to the e-mail address in the Imprint, or use our contact form and pick Something else. We have not appointed a data protection officer: the size of the company and the nature of the processing do not require one.
You are on help.boodabike.com, the Booda Bike Help Center. This page explains what happens to anything you send us here.
Buying a bike is a separate matter. Orders, payment, delivery, returns and warranty claims run through the webshop at boodabike.com, under its own terms and its own privacy information. The Terms and Conditions and the Refund Policy you can read in this Help Center belong to the webshop — they are reproduced here so you can look something up while reading an article. They do not govern your use of this site, and nothing on this page changes them.
What we collect, why, and on what basis
Reading articles
You can read every article here without telling us anything at all. No account, no sign-up, no cookies.
When you write to us
The contact form asks for your name and email address so we can reply, and an order number if you have one, so we can find your case. You pick a topic, write your message, and you can attach photos, PDFs or video when they explain the problem better than words.
We use all of it for one thing: answering you. It reaches our support team as an email. We do not sell it, we do not advertise with it, and we do not build a profile out of it.
Files you attach are uploaded straight from your browser into private storage. The links our team uses to open them stop working after 90 days.
We rely on needing this to take the steps you asked us for, and on our legitimate interest in supporting customers and handling claims properly.
When you start a return
A return (the contact form, topic “Return a product”) first asks which order you are sending back, why, and how you paid; for a bank transfer, also your IBAN. These come to us, not to WEF: we keep them in our own returns record, in private storage in the EU (Bunny, Germany), and our support team is told by e-mail, so that we can handle the refund; the IBAN is used for the refund and nothing else. WEF then tells us how the shipment goes — paid, booked, its tracking number — and we keep that with your return. We keep all of it with your request (see below).
Then it asks for your name, email address and phone number, the address the courier collects from, the pickup day, what is in the parcels, their value and their sizes. We pass these — and the order number, in the shipment’s description — to WEF (wef.hu), our shipping partner, to prepare the shipment. On WEF’s page WEF picks the cheapest courier, and you check the price and pay WEF directly: that payment and the courier booking are between you and WEF, under WEF’s own terms and privacy information.
To check the town, our server looks it up in the list of towns WEF’s couriers serve. Postcode suggestions come from open data (GeoNames) kept on our own server, so typing a postcode sends nothing anywhere.
We rely on needing this to take the steps you asked us for.
Statistics
We count page views with Umami, running on our own server, to see which articles actually help. It records the page, where you arrived from, your browser, operating system, device type and approximate country. It sets no cookies, does not identify you, and does not follow you to other websites.
Heatmaps
On roughly one visit in five we also build a heatmap: where people click, how far they scroll, how the pointer moves across the page. We use it for one thing — working out whether the buttons and links people need are where they look for them.
What you type is not captured. Every input field is masked, so your name, email address, order number and message never reach the recording, even though the form itself is part of the page. We do not record playback sessions of your visit, and a recording never runs longer than five minutes.
This needs no cookie and no browser storage of any kind.
If you would rather not be counted at all, open /disable-analytics. That stores one setting in your browser and switches the counting off.
Spam protection
Before the contact form will send, your browser solves a short mathematical puzzle. It needs no cookie and no tracking — it just makes mass spam expensive.
How long we keep things
- your request and the order details in it — three years after we close it;
- files you attached — 180 days after we close the request, after which they are deleted automatically (the download links our team uses stop working sooner, after 90 days);
- anonymous statistics and heatmap data — the retention period set on our Umami server;
- spam-check records — 90 days.
Longer only where the law requires it, or where we need it for a legal claim.
Who else sees it
Only the people at Booda Bike who handle support, plus the providers that keep the site running: Bunny (hosting, the contact-form endpoint, private file storage) and Scaleway (our statistics server and outgoing email). They act on our instructions, not their own.
Cookies
There are none. This site sets no cookies whatsoever, which is why you never get a cookie banner — there is nothing to ask you about.
A few small values can live in your browser. None of them is ever sent to us, and none of them identifies you:
booda-bike-themeandstarlight-theme— which theme you picked, light or dark. There are two because the switcher in the header and the documentation framework underneath it each read their own.sl-sidebar-state— how far the article menu was scrolled, so it does not jump back to the top on every page you open. It lives only as long as the browser tab does.umami.disabled— written only if you switch statistics off, so that we remember you did.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of them.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Send us a contact form and we will deal with it.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH), or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Accessibility
Booda Bike wants the Help Center to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to follow the relevant WCAG 2.2 Level AA principles. This is a statement of intent and current practice, not a claim of formal certification.
We build this Help Center to WCAG 2.2 AA, and we measure it rather than assume it. Every build checks contrast in both themes, keyboard operation, the focus indicator at phone, tablet and desktop widths, tap-target sizes and screen-reader structure; on top of that we go through the things a machine cannot judge by hand.

- Found something we missed? Write to us through the contact form and pick Something else. We will answer, and if the fix takes time we will tell you how to get the same content another way.
What the Help Center does
- Keyboard navigation for the main navigation, search, links and forms.
- Semantic headings, landmarks and labels, so screen readers get a real document structure.
- A visible focus outline, so you can see where you are without a mouse.
- Text alternatives for images that carry meaning.
- Layouts that adapt to the screen you are on.
- Readable text, clear link styling and colour contrast that holds in both the light and dark theme.
What we know is not there yet
Embedded videos from other services, external documents and older article media do not all meet the same standard as the pages around them. Captions and transcripts, image alternatives, heading structure and form behaviour all need continuing review. We fix things in the order that affects the most people, and we would rather tell you that plainly than imply the site is finished.
Tell us about a barrier
If something here does not work for you, tell us through the contact form. It helps if you can include the page address, what went wrong, and — if it matters — the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge reports within five working days.
If you need something here in a different format, say what would work and we will look at how to provide it.
