Cleaning

Wash your Booda Bike with clean water at low pressure (a garden hose is fine), with mild soapy water and a soft sponge for stubborn dirt, then rinse and dry it.

Take care with the following areas when washing:

  • eccentric bottom bracket
  • headset
  • seatpost and seatpost clamp
  • front hub
  • rear hub (internal gear hub)

On a Rohloff SPEEDHUB, do not use brushes or cloths at the hub seals on either side of the hub. Brushing or wiping there works dirt into the seals. Rinse this area gently with water only.

Keep cleaning products, oil and grease away from the brake rotors and pads. A contaminated rotor or pad brakes poorly and squeals. If this has happened, see Disc brake maintenance and troubleshooting.

The Gates Carbon Drive belt needs no oil and very little care. Rinse a muddy or dusty belt with water, and never put chain oil, grease or WD-40 on it. For cleaning, conditioning a squeaking belt and checking it for wear, see Belt care and inspection.

Dry the bike, especially around the bolts, the bottom bracket and the hubs. Before the next ride, check that the brakes work correctly. For storage after a wet ride, see Storage and weather.

Can I use a pressure washer on my Booda Bike?

No. A pressure washer forces water and dirt into the bearings and seals of the hubs, the bottom bracket and the headset. Rinse the bike with low-pressure water instead, use mild soapy water for stubborn dirt, and never spray cleaner directly into the brakes, hubs, bottom bracket, headset, lights or electrical connectors.
