Shifting Problems
Shifting problems can come from cable tension, cable wear, hub adjustment, dirty or damaged parts, or a wheel that was removed and reinstalled incorrectly.
Quick answer
Section titled “Quick answer”Do not ride if the hub skips, does not engage a gear, shifts unexpectedly, or the rider cannot control the drivetrain. Contact Booda service if the issue does not resolve after simple checks.
Describe the symptom
Section titled “Describe the symptom”Ask the rider to note whether:
- the bike will not shift into some gears
- the shifter feels blocked
- the hub skips under load
- the bike shifts two gears at once
- the problem started after wheel removal
- the problem started after transport, crash, or cleaning
First checks
Section titled “First checks”- Check that the rear wheel is correctly seated.
- Check that the shift cable is connected and not visibly damaged.
- Check whether the belt is seated on both sprockets.
- Shift through the gears while stationary or during a very careful test.
- Stop if the hub skips, grinds, or fails to engage.
For Rohloff or Rohbox systems
Section titled “For Rohloff or Rohbox systems”If the bike uses a Rohloff hub or Gebla Rohbox, cable tension and correct mechanism position are important. Use the related Rohbox guide only when it matches the bike’s setup.
