Pre Purchase FAQ

These questions help customers make a confident first decision before contacting Booda Bike or placing an order.

What material are steel frames made of?

Material Type: Air-hardening chrome-molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel, cold-drawn, seamless tubing.

Manufacturing Technology: Not fully heat-treated, but strengthened through cold working.

After welding, the heat-affected zone (HAZ) re-hardens in air, so welding does not weaken the tube but partially strengthens it.

Typical Mechanical Properties:

  • Tensile Strength (UTS): 800 - 900 MPa
  • Yield Strength (YS): ~700 MPa
  • Density: ~7.78 g/cm³
  • Elastic Modulus (E): ~210 GPa (similar to most steels)
  • Wall Thickness: up to 0.6 mm in the middle section of the tube
  • Hardness: ~250-300 HB (Rockwell C ≈ 25–30)

Can I buy a Booda Bike through the Cycle to Work scheme in the UK?

We often receive inquiries regarding the Cycle to Work scheme from the UK, but it is only available to companies operating within the United Kingdom. Since we are a company based in Hungary, we unfortunately do not qualify for this option.

Essentially, the scheme is built around the British tax system (PAYE - Pay As You Earn), which means that as a Hungarian-based company, direct registration and sales face technical and legal obstacles.

We would be happy to participate, but unfortunately, there is currently no way for us to do so.

Can I buy a kickstand for a Booda Bike?

The frame does not include a dedicated mounting point for a kickstand, as the majority of our customers prefer a cleaner look without an extra mounting bracket. We have experimented with aftermarket “clamp-on” solutions, but unfortunately, they proved unreliable. Due to the high weight load, only a factory-integrated mount can provide the necessary stability; otherwise, the stand may shift and damage the frame’s paintwork. Therefore, we cannot recommend a kickstand option at this time.

When should I contact Booda Bike before buying?

Contact Booda Bike before ordering if the customer is between sizes, needs a specific accessory setup, wants to carry a child or trailer, has a medical or comfort concern, or is unsure which model best fits their use.
