Tire Pressure Dropping: How to Fix Leaking Tubeless Tires

Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Tubeless Tires

Section titled “Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Tubeless Tires”

Tubeless tire systems offer superior puncture resistance and performance, but they require periodic maintenance to stay airtight. Follow this guide to keep your tubeless setup running smoothly.

Pre-Ride Checklist & Routine Maintenance

  • Check Tire Pressure Before Every Ride: Tubeless systems naturally lose a small amount of air over time compared to traditional inner tubes. Always check and set your recommended bar/PSI pressure before rolling out.
  • Inspect Sealant Every 3-6 Months: Tubeless sealant evaporates and dries over time. Check the fluid level inside your tire minimum twice a year, and top it up if it runs low.
  • Tires Are Wear Items: Regularly inspect your tread and sidewalls for heavy wear, deep cuts, or rubber degradation.

What to Do If Your Tubeless Tire Is Losing Air

If your tire is constantly leaking or going flat, follow these steps to locate and fix the issue:

  1. Top Up the Sealant (First Step)

In most cases, continuous air loss simply means the sealant level is low or dried out. Adding fresh sealant through the valve stem usually seals minor slow leaks immediately.

  1. Locate the Leak (If Adding Sealant Doesn’t Help)

If topping up the sealant does not solve the issue, you need to find where the air is escaping:

  • Mix water with a few drops of dish soap.
  • Apply the soapy water along the bead lines (where the tire meets the rim), the rim seam/joint, and around the valve stem.
  • Look for expanding bubbles - they will pinpoint the exact location of the leak.

About Your Sealant: Effetto Mariposa Vegetalex

Your wheels come pre-filled with Effetto Mariposa Vegetalex, a highly durable, eco-friendly sealant.

  • How It Works: Unlike traditional polymer sealants, Vegetalex uses natural particles—including finely ground olive pits and cellulose fibers held together by xanthan gum.
  • Longevity: This unique natural mixture provides reliable puncture protection for over 6 months in most conditions. It stays fluid and will not turn into a sticky rubber ball inside your tire.
  • Pro Tip (Water Top-Up): You can easily extend the lifespan of Vegetalex without buying new fluid! After a few months, simply inject pure water into the tire (equivalent to 50% of the original Vegetalex volume). This restores its proper viscosity and keeps the sealant moving quickly to seal punctures instantly.
