3x3 Gear Hub recalibration guide

How to reset, update, and recalibrate your 3x3 hub gear if you are experiencing shifting issues. Learn how to disconnect and fully recalibrate the system to get your bike running like new, with a step-by-step video guide included.

Power on the bicycle by connecting it to the external battery. Next, open the 3x3 app and pair the bike via Bluetooth.

Initiate a software update. Once the update completes successfully, reboot the bike’s electrical system by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Now it is time to calibrate the gear system. Tap the Calibration button in the app. Once finished, test the gears manually using the plus and minus buttons to ensure it shifts smoothly through the entire range.

Navigate to the Unpair Trigger menu option and unpair the controller. Reboot the system once more by unplugging the battery and plugging it back in. This reboot is crucial, as it forces the system back into pairing mode.

As soon as the battery is reconnected, press and hold the trigger button at the end of the handlebar until the LED light begins to flash. Once it starts flashing, release the button. Now, verify shifting both directly from the handlebar trigger and through your PC interface.

Step 6: Disable Auto-Downshift (Important Note)

Section titled “Step 6: Disable Auto-Downshift (Important Note)”

Make sure to turn off Auto Downshift mode. Since this setup is not on an e-bike, there is no communication with a Bosch motor. Without speed and cadence data from the motor, leaving this setting on will simply reset the value to zero every time you turn the bike off, and automatic downshifting when stopping will not function.
