Storage and Weather
Good storage protects the bike from corrosion, premature wear, and avoidable service issues. Weather care matters most after wet, salty, muddy, or very cold rides.
Best storage place
Section titled “Best storage place”Store the bike in a dry, secure, ventilated place. Avoid long-term storage in standing water, heavy moisture, direct heat, or places where the bike can be knocked over.
After rain
Section titled “After rain”After wet rides:
- Wipe the bike dry.
- Check the belt and sprockets for dirt.
- Check brakes before the next ride.
- Let bags, grips, saddle, and accessories dry fully.
Winter and salt
Section titled “Winter and salt”Road salt can speed up corrosion. After salty rides, gently rinse or wipe the bike, dry it, and check bolts, belt, brake area, racks, mudguards, and accessory mounts.
Long-term storage
Section titled “Long-term storage”Before storing the bike for a longer period:
- clean and dry it
- inflate tires to a suitable pressure
- store it where tires are not sharply compressed
- remove loose accessories if needed
- check the bike before riding again
