Drivetrain
The drivetrain transfers pedaling force to the rear wheel. On Booda bikes with belt drive and gear hubs, the most important routine checks are cleanliness, belt condition, secure parts, and smooth shifting.
Quick answer
Section titled “Quick answer”Keep the belt clean, avoid twisting or lubricating it, and stop riding if the drivetrain skips, rubs, clicks loudly, or feels loose.
Belt check
Section titled “Belt check”Inspect the belt regularly. Look for:
- cuts, cracks, missing teeth, or frayed edges
- stones or debris between belt teeth
- rubbing against frame, sprocket, or guard
- unusual tracking on the sprockets
- slipping under load
Sprocket and crank check
Section titled “Sprocket and crank check”Check that the sprockets look clean and that the crank turns smoothly. If the crank has side play, grinding, knocking, or visible looseness, do not ride until the bike is checked.
Shifting check
Section titled “Shifting check”Shift through the gears while stationary or during a careful test ride. The shift should feel predictable and each gear should engage cleanly. If the hub skips, misses shifts, or makes unusual noises, contact Booda service.
Cleaning
Section titled “Cleaning”Use water and a soft brush for belt dirt. Do not use chain oil, chain degreaser, or sticky lubricant on the belt.
When to stop riding
Section titled “When to stop riding”Stop riding and contact Booda service if the belt is damaged, the drivetrain skips, the crank is loose, the rear wheel is not secure, or shifting is unreliable.
