Mounting a child seat on Booda Bikes

Rider and passenger safety, as well as preserving frame integrity, is our top priority. Please review the following technical rules and installation guidelines.

1. Designated Solution: Rear Rack Mounted Child Seats

The only approved and safe method for carrying a child on a Booda Bike is using a certified rear luggage rack.

Recommended Rear Rack Model: Racktime GLEAMIT 2.0 TOUR (AC, 28/29 inch version). This rack ensures the necessary clearance, structural stability, and weight rating.
Integrated Rear Light Considerations: This carrier comes with an integrated rear light.
- If your bike is not running an integrated lighting system, this light unit can easily be unbolted and removed.
- If your bike is equipped with a Supernova system or another hardwired power source and you wish to connect it, select the DC version.
Upper Mounting Bracket Installation:
- The rack comes standard with two lateral mounting stays.
- Booda Bike frames feature a central mounting point on the rear bridge. In our workshop, we routinely set this up by drilling a center hole into the mounting bracket and flipping the stays to create a clean, ultra-rigid single-bolt central mount. This configuration has been extensively field-tested under full child-seat load and provides rock-solid stability.
Child Seat Compatibility: Choose a child seat specifically engineered for rear racks (such as rack-mounted Thule Yepp / Nexxt series). Always verify that the combined passenger weight remains within the rack’s rated capacity.

2. Frame-Mounted (Seat Tube Clamping) Child Seats – Not Permitted / Strictly Advised Against

We strictly advise against installing child seats that clamp onto the bicycle frame’s seat tube (cantilever / floating bracket seats).

Technical reasons:

Frame Tube Integrity: Booda frame seat tubes are precision-engineered with optimized wall thickness to reduce weight and absorb road vibrations. A cantilevered seat concentrates severe torsional stress and localized leverage onto this tube, which can deform the tubing or lead to structural failure.
Seatpost Insertion Depth: Booda Bikes come equipped with standard-length seatposts tailored to the rider without unnecessary excess weight. As a result, the post does not extend deep enough past the seat cluster to provide internal reinforcement against heavy external clamps.
